AFAIK there never has been a problem with xfs on top of raid 1

I have 5 servers with XFS using various forms of software raid 1 and 5 and 
they all work as advertised.

Only raid 5 had performance issues which are mostly gone with the version 2 
logformat which is introduced in XFS 1.2.
