4096 is correct.

it would actually help me a lot already if i'd just get the filenames
and directory structure out of the partition, is there some way to do
this besides xfs_ncheck?

Do you still have an old locate database which you can query? That's what I do when I lose stuff. That way at least I know what went missing.
