We then installed Red Hat 7.3 with the 2.4.18 kernel and also Red Hat 7.2
with the 2.4.7-10 kernel and they both worked fine and showed 4
processors. Can you give me some clue as to why this happens on your
2.4.9-31 kernel? We really take advantage of your XFS file system but
this has forced us to start using ReiserFs which is now natively supported
in the kernel.

These kernels need a nudge in the right direction.

Give the acpismp=force boot option. This is discussed on the linux-poweredge mailing list before. I also believe it is listed on the http://domsch.com/linux/ page.
