Hello,
I get this error message from some XFS utitlities.
For example:

xfs_check /dev/hda2 says:

hda2 contains a mounted filesystem.
fatal error: XFS library could not be initalized.

This is normal.

Is this the normal behaviour when running xfs_check on a mounted filesystem?
I've used Redhat 7.3 with the SGI installer. If this is abnormal, how to fix
it?
If it's normal, is there any possibility to check a mounted XFS filesystem
for errors or is there anything like a bootdisk provided with the essential
XFS utils to check my root partition.

There are links to several solutions in the FAQ.

Cheers

It might just be your lucky day, if you only knew.
