Hello -
We have been using the Linux XFS on some machines here and it works great!
A project is going to be started and I wanted to get some feedback before
we start. The project will entail 2 - Quad Proc boxes with RAIDS attached
and doing number-crunching only and light I/O.
Are there any issues with Quad Procs? I saw your Docs and you say you have
gone to 512 cpu with no problems.
That is under Irix on SGI MIPS machines. On intel machines the kernel
itself is probably the limiting factor.
IS SGI going to keep making ISO images to create XFS on root during
install and are they going make new ones when RedHat releases new kernels
and releases?
The 1.0.1 release is worked at but might take some time to complete since
the recent cuts in workforce at SGI.
You wweb site mentioned June that you may get XFS included in the source
tree. How close are you to getting that done or do you have a guess when
it will be included as dist from RedHat?
Where does the website mention june as a date that the kernel is included?
There is little piece about linus tree inclusion in the faq.
In short, there are still to much places where the XFS patch is intrusive
on the Linus kernel. And from what I understand there are some things that
need to be changed before it can be sent to linus without instant rejection :-)

I use the last kind.
