Hi! This is slightly off topic but I thought I'd ask where to read up on how RedHat makes their installer images. What tools should one use, etc? I've searched a bit myself but the only resource I found covered the RH6.1 release (Or was it 6.2...) and things have changed since then. For instance there's a commment there that says "If the package isn't on THIS CD it's on the other." Now that there are more CDs than that, how does the installer know that a certain package is on CD 3 for instance? I've looked at the various files in the RedHat/base directory and I am uncertain about a few things. For instance - what is the comps.xml file used for ? Only dependencies? And the two hdlist files, hdlist and hdlist2. Is the smaller one all packages on this CD? And the bigger one all packages on all CDs? If so, why is the hdlist2 file on the XFS CD smaller than the one on the RedHat CD1 ? Can someone give me a link on information or just a hint on what tools to use? I would be grateful for any help on the matter. Thanx! // Stefan |
