One of the nice things in GPL is that it does not allow SGI competitors to
steal
SGI's crown jewels unless they relinquish THEIR code jewels.  With BSD
license
SGI could find its code has been used in say Solaris without Sun giving
anything
Another point is that if someone not from SGI contributed code to XFS then
SGI
would need either to get his agreement or to rewrite his code before thinking
in
relicensing.
