Someone is going to have to sit down and explain to me the whole
Adaptec non-support/support of Linux from 1993 on. All I know is
that I have _never_ had good Adaptec support, period. In fact, I
distinctly remember when Adaptec released (or at least modified the
existing drivers) in their first "officially supported" drivers for
Linux and my compatibility went to crap (was that 1998?).

At least two dozen different Adaptec-brand host adapters later, I
find I usually have to rip 'em out and replace them in Advansys
and/or Symbios/TekRam cards. Plus Adaptec's non-support of Linux
with new products still makes me wonder how "committed" they are to
Linux.
