        This is the problem.  hde3's "event" counter is different from the
other disks event counters.  Try this:

        raidhotremove /dev/md0 /dev/hde3
        raidhotadd /dev/md0 /dev/hde3

If you don't have raidhotadd/raidhotremove, then get the latest
raidtools.  They are all just links to raidstart anyway, and should have
been installed that way.
