[Off-topic] Anyone interested in RPMs build from the latest 2.4.2
kernel + XFS?

Well, instead of working at my job for ~20 hours this weekend (I
ended up only spending ~8 hours there, my boss is going to kill me
;-), I buckled down and messed with some of the latest 2.4.2 kernel
stuff in SGI's XFS CVS repository, since the SGI Beta/Pre-Release
stuff is 2.4.0 and quite "aged" now (in Linux kernel terms).

The result is that I ended up cutting some RPMs (after about ~20
hours of toying with modifying SPEC file), including the various
support RPMs. So, now, I've got a completely set of RPMs (146MB
total, including SRPMS) that you can plop on any updated RedHat 7.0
system to get full XFS goodness. You can even have a root (/) XFS
filesystem with no separate boot (simply by making an initrd with
the xfs/xfs_support modules). I hope to be able to do this every
week or two for those that are "kernel-build"-challenged (or those
that don't want to track down all the support RPMs, etc...).

I'm uploading the archive (list of files is below) to my server
now. It's only a 256Kbps connection (ETA 1.5 hours to upload) I
share with a couple of others (on a friend's network). Ideally,
it's not going to take more than a couple of people to piss my
friend off. I've put in for a project on SourceForge.NET, but all
I'm doing is packaging other people's stuff. Where should I be
looking for storage of just RPMs and packaged goods?

Anyhoo, I'll let you'all know when its uploaded if you are
interested in XFS. A number of people on the XFS list out at SGI
have been showing off most excellent NFS benchmarks. I just hard
powered-off twice and the mounts don't even hiccup (test server of
about 8GB in use, total) and take only about a total of a second
after improper shutdown. I hope XFS is as solid as I'm hearing
(most issues have been with non-XFS stuff in the 2.4.x kernels).

P.S. I have an HTML "HOWTO" on the release. I didn't want to
attach it to the list because it is HTML. If anyone wants it, it'll
be up on my server in a little while.
