I have installed the pre-release 0.9 using the RPM methode on a redhat 7.0
system. Unfortunately I'm no real Linux expert, which might explain my
questions:

(I have updated the other packages as well, devfsd and modules.devfs are
installed)

First, the link to the mailing-list archive is broken. I know that some of
my problems have been discussed there.

The most serious problem is, that pcmcia does not work. If I insert my
adaptec scsi card, the system looks up. Any suggestions?

I want to attach an 72GB external xfs disk to my notebook for data
collection and later read it on my IRIX machine. No root xfs is required.
Probably I do not need devfs. How exactly can I switch devfs off, by
including a option in lilo? Or do I have to recompile the kernel (with
kgcc?)?

The rest is also related to devfs, not important, but annoying:

No device entry is generated for my ide-cd. If I manually execute "modprobe
ide-cd" I get /dev/cdroms/cdrom* and /dev/hdb but not /dev/cdrom. How can I
generate this entry?

The same with /dev/mouse. I would like to have a symlink /dev/mouse -->
/dev/psaux.

Sincerely
Manfred Baumstark
