As long as XFS/IRIX and XFS/Linux work the same, ie are
mountable/workable under the other, then go ahead.
That should be the most logical way to do it.
Ext2 used local before as well, for example the m68k port used Big
Endian EXT2, but they changed to using little endian instead, with
little performance impact.
