Mostly because I've had some problems with standard kernels & MD-raid & ext3
in the past (filesystem corruption) and therefore I switched into
using XFS instead (seems to handle error situations little bit better).
In addition there has been some problems with the system slowing
down into crawl in the long run with previous kernels.
I hope that when the 2.4.23 will be released, I'll be able to
add the XFS-patches into that and stay there. Better hardware might
also help, but what can you do ... you've got to deal with what you have.
