Hello,

I am using an XFS filesystem on a Linux box (kernel é.6) on an underlying
hardware RAID controller.
I am trying to improve the preformance of the XFS filesystem and I read many
times that setting the sunit and swidth parameters could improve it
significantly.

The problem is that I didn't find any explanation on how to determine the
values to assign to sunit and swidth. So I am in the incapacity to test my XFS
with values for sunit and swidth that make any sense.

My RAID is a hardware RAID-5 with 12 disks of 500 GB, so 11 * 500 GB of total
capacity.

Could anyone be kind enough to explain me how to determine these values?

I have a second problem (if it's not toomuch at a time), mount doesn't seem to
recognize the options sunit and swidth, I can only set them at filesystem
creation, which is not my preference.

Thanks in advance for your answer(s).

Pascal
