I remember getting standard optimization tips -- not from the above
article, I think it was from Steve Lord on this list or from the FAQ,
but it's not there anymore -- that basically said create a filesystem
using "-l size=32768b", and mount it using "logbufs=8,logbsize=32768".
The metadata log size tweaks are the same as in the DeveloperWorks
article, but I had not (until now) read about tweaking the agcount. If
the article's out of date, does the XFS team have any optimization
suggestions that are valid for the most recent version of XFS (in the
kernel) and xfsprogs?
Or should we just trust the defaults for that perfect balance between
performance and reliability?
