I have a server running apache on an 18GB xfs partition. It seems to
loose large chunks of disk space around the time the apache logs rotate.
The apache logs get to be around 2 gig at the end of the day and are
compressed and started over by logrotate. df reports one value
while du-sch / reports another. The value du give stays pretty much
steady while the value df gives shows a gradual loss of disk space.
The last time the disk filled up, I restarted and used xfs-repair which
recovered a bunch of apache logs among other stuff. The disk has plenty
of room now and on most days seems to recover disk space after the log
rotation. Then on some days you dont see any space recovery.
