ACLs on both ext2/ext3 and XFS

What's the wisdom on building a kernel with ACL support for both
ext2/ext3 and XFS ? I tried applying patches in this order :

  linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2
  ea-2.4.20-0.8.58.diff.gz
  acl-2.4.20-0.8.57.diff.gz
  nfsacl-2.4.20-0.8.59.diff.gz
  xfs-2.4.20-split-only.bz2
  xfs-2.4.20-split-quota32.bz2
  xfs-2.4.20-split-kernel.bz2
  xfs-2.4.20-split-misc.bz2
  xfs-2.4.20-split-acl.bz2

It goes fine modulo a bunch of "(offset N lines)" messages but as
soon as I reach xfs-2.4.20-split-acl.bz2, problems appear
("Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected!  Assume -R?").
