Summary: xfs_force_shutdown on a lvm device
           Product: Linux XFS
           Version: Current
          Platform: IA32
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: Medium
         Component: XFS kernel code
        AssignedTo: xfs-master@xxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: christian.guggenberger@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What kernel are you using:
2.4.19 SGI XFS CVS-10/08/02:15 with acls, quota, no debug.
+ e1000 Intel Network driver, version 4.3.15

Where did the XFS code come from? (CVS, Linus, your distribution, etc):
CVS, compiled on a debian woody machine.

Description of Problem:

Recently, our nfs-server (Dell Poweredge 2500, 2x1.4GHz, 2GB Ram, 2 external
ide2scsi Raid-5), called xfs_force_shutdown. This machine acts as nfsserver
only.

xfs_force_shutdown(lvm(58,1),0x8) called from line 1041 of file xfs_trans.c.
Return address = 0xf8c06de9
Corruption of in-memory data detected. Shutting down filesystem: lvm(58,1)
Please umount the filesystem, and rectify the problem(s)

That's all what I can see in my logs.

lvm(58,1) is ~400GB and it's part of a ~800GB external ide2scsi HW Raid5.
This logical volume was created with lvm-1.0.4-4 userspace tools.

umounting that device and mounting again ended up in clean xfs-filesystem
again.

This was the first filesystem problem since the server went in production 10
weeks ago.
