AFAIK that behaviour was "fixed" in the mainline kernel and thus XFS
automatically follows that behaviour. They originally created this to make
sure you can not loop through symlinks endlessly.

I think that searching for patches about this on lkml might show you how
to change this limit. I do not know the current limit for recursive
symlinks.
