Partition gone on XFS system (I'm not on the mailing list)

Hello,

I have a build system which has been up running RH-SGI
7.1 with the 2.4.9-13 smp xfs kernel for about 45
days.  Wednesday morning the system went down and
would not come up.  Using the install CD I was able to
access the drive.
The partitions are:
hda1 - /boot
hda2 - Extended
hda5 - /root
hda6 - swap
hda7 - /build

running xfs_check/repair on the drive... hda1 no
problems, hda5 no data found!!!! (this is my problem),
hda6 (who cares), hda7 check found errors, and repair
took some time.  Looks like it fixed a lot.

I need to know how to determine if the problem was
physical or fs related.  xfs_repair just spun for a
while on hda5.  Any tools, ideas, help...
