On ftp.openlinux.org:/pub/people/hch/lvm I have a patch to support
loading kernel from contingous logical volumes against an old version
of grub. The grub crew decided to rewrite the part it plugs into
just to use GNUc extension (nested functions) very soon after I finished
it so it won't apply against current grub versions.
If you want to add support for current grub version it might be a good
start anyway.
