Hi all -
I'd like to put a page up on the web site detailing the various
applications, distributions, installations, and embedded products using
XFS for Linux.
I'd appreciate some submissions; examples below.
Thanks!
-Eric

Title: RIP
Version: 42
Entered-date: 15OCT2001
Description: Small ram linux system for the purpose of system booting
or repairing, a boot/rescue system.
You can put this system on a cd disk and boot it.
It's more or less designed for non-networked, stand-alone,
home pc hard drive boot/rescue/backup!
It has large file support, you can use the programs mke2fs,
mkdosfs, mkreiserfs, mkfs.xfs, mkfs.jfs, split, mount,
tar, gzip,bzip2, and busybox for files larger than 2GB!
You can only have files larger than 2GB on a ext2/3,
reiserfs, jfs, or xfs partition.
The programs e2fsck, mke2fs, and tune2fs have ext3
filesystem support.
It includes the fat16/32, ext2/3, and reiserfs partition
resizing programs 'parted, resize_reiserfs'.
It also includes the partition image program 'partimage'
which saves partitions in the ext2, ext3, reiserfs,
jfs, xfs, ntfs, fat16, and fat32 formats to an image
file. Only used blocks are copied to save space and
increase the speed. The image file can be compressed,
in gzip, or bzip2 formats.
It also includes the 'mc' file manager!
It has support for these filesystems.
ext2 <Linux filesystem, read-write>
iso9660 <Cdrom filesystem + joliet extensions, read-only>
jfs <Linux filesystem, read-write>
msdos <Dos filesystem, read-write>
ntfs <Windows NT filesystem, read-only>
reiserfs <Linux filesystem, read-write>
ufs <FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, & Sun/Solaris
filesystems, read-write>
umsdos <Linux dos filesystem, read-write>
vfat <Win9x filesystem fat16 and 32, read-write>
xfs <Linux filesystem, read-write>
The kernel is version 2.4.12, it has support for IDE
and SCSI hard drives.
You need at least 12mb of RAM and a 486dx CPU to boot it.

This is a root image with XFS support, it allows you to install
the slackware linux distribution on a dos/win9x system, using the
loop device or a umsdos filesystem.
You can also install slackware on it's own linux partition.
