Through the 2.4 kernel, xfs on linux was limited to a 4096K block size (the
size of the page file, I believe). Has that changed with the 2.6 kernel? Is it
now possible to use a block size that is > 4096? If so, what is the limit? And
if it's possible to use a larger block size in Linux under the 2.6 kernel,
what size would make sense for a RAID5 array that's mostly holding large audio
and video files? And is there a rule of thumb for choosing block size, segment
size, RAID chunk size (and balancing those with things like samba transmit
sizes?)
