i'm using SuSE Linux 7.x Pro here. it comes with a tool named ALICE.

i had set it up once, but this was befor i used SGI's XFS.
SuSE's installer YaST1 (which i prefer for my installations) only knows
ext2 and reiserfs for the install. i tried once to modify YaST1 so that it
mount with 'auto' instead of '-t vfstype' with no success
(compilation problems and possibly my skills in C and C++ programing).
i did an own iso-image of CD1 with the needed tools and kernel to run an
installation from scratch (with manually run mkfs.xfs on the created partitions
and cheat on YaST1 with a the creation of a known fstype so that it continues
to the packages section).
the recently released SuSE 7.3 Pro comes with the complete set
of SGI's XFS userspace tools (xfs_progs, acl, ...). i don't know yet why
these are included because the kernel which comes with the distro doesn't
support XFS. perhaps SuSE release a kernel update with XFS support in ther near
future?
