Hi,

I'm having some trouble with my xfs filesystem. I thought it somewhat
similar to the problem James Foris reported last month, but I think it's
something different.
What happens is, that if several programs are writing data at the same
time on the same filesystem, some of the written files, but not all, get
corrupted. For example: I'm downloading some files with bittorrent
(using the bittornado client) while at the same time downloading some
files with lftp from another box. Bittornado says every now and then
someting like this: piece 5739 failed hash check, re-downloading it.
The files I downloaded at the same time with lftp are rar files. When I
try to unrar them, several (last time 3 out of 90) files report: packed
data CRC failed in volume <filename>. If I redownload those files they
are ok. I tried using a different ftp client and scp but that made no
difference, some files still get corrupted. Using cmp -b on the corrupt
and the correct file show that the files differ in 1 byte. Output from
those 3 files:
correct1 corrupt1 byte 43330599, line 227755 is 7 ^G 47 '
correct2 corrupt2 byte 21769255, line 113448 is 302 M-B 342 M-b
correct3 corrupt3 byte 39713823, line 206079 is 10 ^H 30 ^X
No messages in logfiles whatsoever.

At the moment I'm running a vanilla 2.6.12-rc2, but I had the same
problems running several 2.6.11 flavors. I have only recently started
using XFS, so I don't know if the problem exists with older kernels.
I'm using LVM2 with 1 logical volume that spans 3 disks. I tried using
the noalign mount option as suggested earlier, but that isn't making a
difference. The filesystem was created with
mkfs.xfs /dev/mapper/storage-new

I hope someone can help me debug this. If more information is required,
just let me know. TIA!

Regards,
