Hi,
I'm running Mandrake 9.1 (patched with the Mandrake 2.4.21-0.26 kernel)
on a dual xeon machine with 2 Gb ram. It has a 3ware raid card with 2
250gb disks in mirroring mode. All filesystems are XFS.
Under heavy disk io (mailserver) the kupdated process uses all cpu until
the system hangs eventually. It appears to race on 1 cpu and when the
second cpu begins to race the whole system hangs. It does not oops or
leave anything in /var/log/messages
This does not happen when mounting the partitions with the 'sync'
option, however this causes severe performance problems. It also does
not happen when using other (ext3) filesystems.
We can not reliably reproduce this. This happens on several machines on
remote locations.
Any ideas?
