This is off-topic, but since I'll be using an XFS enabled kernel and
I've seen some issues regarding XFS enabled kernels versus those not on
8-Way Intel boxes on Usenet, I thought I'd ask here and find out. Thanks
in advance to anyone who can help.
Been doing some reasearch and I was wondering if any of you using 8-way
Intel boxes have had major hurdles with XFS in any of the kernels of
2.4.14 >. Mainly in the area of BIGMEM(64GB) support. Anyone running
this type of config, I'd be happy to chat for a few.
Target config:
8-way Xeon Box (512K up to 2MB L2)
Type of Xeon(700/900Mhz + 100Mhz FSB or 733Xeon and up with 133Mhz FSB)
8GB RAM (16x 512MB)
2-4 NICS
2-4 QLogic QLA2200F or QLA2202F cards
EMC, LSI, or Hitatchi Storage.
Oracle 8.1.7_03
Kernel 2.4.14 or greater.
If anyone is running this type of config, even for testing, I'd be most
interested in who you bought it from(compaq, dell, Penguin, Atipa, SGI,
etc)
Thanks for the help. Knowing this will help me solidify what we have
available to us to do our job. Thanks in advance.
