My initial thought about this problem is the version of kernel and what
fixes are applied to it in regards to USB. e.g. what did they "fix" in
Linus' tree that deals with USB. I know on an older system I've got,
they "fixed" buggy chipsets by disabling them entirely. After that, I
had to go buy a new usb card, now everything works again.
