Hi Eric,

Actually GigE _is_ going to travel well, it's already begun in fact.
DWDM links are going to be the mainstream long haul fibre technology,
with SDH declining, and GigE/10GigE travels perfectly on that.

Otherwise see Don Woelz's comments on STP over OC-48c, etc. By the way,
Don forgot to mention that CERN works closely with Genroco on their
bridge product, in fact we built the GigE and OC-48c bridge blades as
part of a joint development project.
