i) In /usr/include/g++-2/stl_alloc.h : class
simple_alloc is created with a
template class Alloc. This class Alloc is actually class
mempool_allocator
during object creation.
When we build, we use /usr/include/g++-3, not g++-2.
I don't know all the differences between these, but
I suspect you need to the newer g++ in order to build.
