While they don't go to the full ABI-compatibility sort of efforts related to symbol versioning etc., I am not aware of any API breakage over the time. Instead of those folks, you might consider poking the debian packagers in question to see if they had considered moving to a newer version, and if not why. For that matter, why do they ship only pcp 3.3.3, or systemtap 1.2 for oldstable. - FChE |
