Thread-topic: issues with pmlogger_daily via cron

I am trying to debug an issue with pmlogger (we are using version 3.9.10-1 in SLES 11) while running via cron.

The cron line is:

pmlogger_daily -c /var/lib/pcp/config/pmlogger/logger.control

Here's my ps output:

# ps -eaf|grep pmlogger|grep -v grep
pcp      211906      1  0 15:25 pts/11   00:00:00 pmlogger -P -r -T24h10m -c config.default -m pmlogger_check 20170213.15.25
pcp      218632  66857  0 15:27 ?        00:00:00 /usr/bin/pmlogger -c /var/log/pcp/pmmgr/server1/config.pmlogger -h local: -r -l /var/log/pcp/pmmgr/server1/pmlogger.log -y -T  @Tue Feb 14 01:00:00 2017 /var/log/pcp/pmmgr/server1/archive-20170213.142717

Below is the error received in the email where it looks like the ps output is getting truncated. Is this due to some sort of char width limit in cron? I cannot reproduce this while running via command line. Any suggestion on how to debug this?

Waiting for new pmlogger to start .. process exited!

Sorry, but this is fatal.  No new pmlogger instance has been started.
