Very much so.  For me, the trend all week has been toward a happier
place (incl. overnight) ... could you try revert commit d3895954cc6
(libpcp: coverity-detected leak, return code and null check fixes)
and see if that's contributing here?

I guess its coming out of strerror, via the pmErrStr call in pmlc
(actions.c:205) ... not sure how/why though.
