I'll be back in a few days and can start to look at this then.

I made some changes in interp.c recently that were supposed to make no functional change (ready to fix your earlier performance problem) but it is possible that I introduced a regression with these changes.  Suggest you either wait till I'm back in Oz, or revert any interp.c changes I've made over the last couple  of months and see if the problem is new or ancient.
