If you want the QA that goes with this, then you'll also need d70a158a9b845f7da0632859a3778fa2c68a009d and ea0de1fd5dc4abf2f6b6202687b760435080c8cd.

The others can wait until I have things in a more stable state.

I had to edit out a reference to bug-1044.0 from qa/archives/GNUMakefile from one of the qa commits. Otherwise everything else has been pushed.
