Sorry, only 961 is relevant to the pmlogextract code change. The others are WIP for the other interp.c problem I'm chasing down before I got sidetracked on pmlogextract issues.

Disregard 177, 251 and 787 for the moment.

Sorry, but I'm having trouble identifying which commits to cherry-pick. Can you spell it out for me?
