Hello,
I wasn't able to get the linux pmda to report any swap activity without the attached patch. Not sure if this is the right way to go about it, but it seems to work for us. 

Tested on:

CentOS release 6.3 (Final)
2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Feb 6 03:10:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
