Same problem on SuSE ... so this looks like an RPM-specific issue, not a
Fedora-specific issue.

Makepkgs top-of-tree build worked for me on my f15 system. Do you have
python-2.7 installed?

python-2.7.1-7.fc15.x86_64
python-devel-2.7.1-7.fc15.x86_64
python-libs-2.7.1-7.fc15.x86_64

maybe the rpm spec needs a version specific BuildRequires python-devel-2.7
or later?
