by that I ment I changed rc-proc.sh to not source /etc/rc.status,
so I'm not getting the "redirecting to systemctl" message.

If I run 067 with rc-proc.sh as-shipped, it fails as expected,
(but I don't get the complete-system-freeze-up issue that you've
reported - is it a kernel panic? Or just a hang?? Reproducible?
