Oh, one other thing - pmie/pmieconf could probably be extended to
use a similar model (for remote hosts & probing) ... its a bit
closer, in that its integrated into the startup script (IIRC) but
not really geared to multiple host & "dynamic" (iow, new rules on
the fly) monitoring.
