Nathan,

While you're plaing with pcp-gui, maybe you can have a look at
strange pmchart behaviour I'm seeing: I've got an archive with metrics
which look like

17:20:38.711 75.4093.2 (pmda.metric.time):
                inst [1 or "kernel.all.cpu.idle"] value 0
                inst [2 or "kernel.all.cpu.user"] value 0
                inst [3 or "kernel.all.cpu.sys"] value 0
                inst [4 or "kernel.all.cpu.wait.total"] value 0

If I ask pmchart to plot thos metrics it will do it for me but
if I try to change the plot style later (e.g. from line to stacked
bars), pmchart will complain that it does not have instace "idle" of
the metric pmda.metric.time.kernel.all.cpu.

I can send you the archive if you need it for testing.
