The library was written to be used for instrumenting fs2d and one of the
requirements at the time was that libpcp cannot be used - CHAOS people
did not want to create a dependency on pcp_eoe so the static library
was used in that case.

I guess it's not important anymore, especially if the only delivery
vehicle for the new library is pcp.
