... from this error we can see pmcd is running, there's just
no agent answering requests for Linux kernel metrics. Your
pmcd.conf is screwy, most likely - and the output Kens asked
for will help narrow it down (maybe send pmcd.conf as well).
Upgrade shouldn't be necessary, unless you're after specific
fixes/features here.
