You'll need the libpfm4-dev deb installed, otherwise building perfevent
is switched off by configure.ac via...

    AC_CHECK_LIB([pfm], [pfm_get_os_event_encoding],
                 [pfm_libs="-lpfm"],
                 [enable_perfevent=false])
    AC_CHECK_HEADERS([perfmon/pfmlib_perf_event.h], [], 
[enable_perfevent=false])


(Joe, do you want to add packaging for this PMDA in debian/* to help out
the punters?  See debian/pcp-pmda-infiniband* for an example, as well as
the control and rules files below debian/).
