Thanks Ken, looking good.  I think the seeming hackiness comes from
the way we're adapting what was a static-only config setup to need a
dynamic test.  If we make the dynamic testing more integral (I guess
more cases like this ipv6 test will arrive down the track), then it
might come together more cleanly - I'll have a crack at this today.
