Wow, that is so incredibly complex.  How on earth did we get from
multiplexing being "just one line of code" on IRC yesterday to this?
Anyway, start with the simplicity of pmstore please, don't treat it
as an afterthought - if the above doesn't work out, we still have a
functional PMDA.
