Hi. I've had some success at running the PCP daemon as non root, and not requiring root to install it either (no /etc/ dependency) This is a patch so that all files can be installed in a separate directory I'm still working on a patch to get configure to automatically modify the shell scripts/startup to start as a distinct user check for pcp.env in a custom place.
