I think Ken meant:
        $ sh -x `which mpvis` -h test-103
cos without the -x there'll be no output to send.

I'd go one step further and suggest you send the output from:
        $ sh -x `which mpvis` -V -h test-103
which will dump out the generate pmview config file as well.
