The functionality has been there for ages via the ethtool interface,
however it was never added to the official ethtool since you at the
time seemed reluctant to move ethtool to include/linux from
include/asm-sparc. The SIOCDEVPRIVATE ioctls that someone put in there
are gross and undocumented. The only thing missing right now is the
interface to read the current amount of free buffers available in the
ring.

Last it was brought up, Alexey mentioned that most of that stuff
wasn't useful any longer anyway, it had only been used back when the
ZC patch was originally implemented.
