"Something like this" but above driver is the scheme which used
in linux for ages and well known not only to be not working,
but even responsible for livelocks. 8)

You will have time to discuss this with Jamal, the first stage
of the work is in 2.4. Polling is planned for 2.5. 

However all the measures to avoid livelocks require remake of drivers.
